gfs.ai (“we”) collects as little as it can. This page lists everything we do collect and why.
What we collect
- Newsletter email. When you sign up for The Briefing (including from a “Track this machine” box), we save your email address in our own database and, if you signed up from a machine's page, which machine. Before we send you any issue, we email you once to confirm the address; until you click that link we keep it but send you nothing else. Every issue has an unsubscribe link.
- Field reports. If you send an owner report, we save your email address, the machine you picked, and what you wrote in our database. We use them to reply, verify ownership and decide what to publish. Nothing you send appears on the site without your agreement, and we anonymize on request.
- Analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and doesn't follow you across other sites. We see totals, not individuals.
- Server logs. Our host, Vercel, keeps standard request logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability. Our form handlers don't write email addresses or report text to those logs. Your IP address is used briefly to limit repeated form submissions and isn't stored by us.
Cookies
We don't set cookies or use advertising trackers. Videos load from youtube-nocookie.com only after you press play; from then on, YouTube's own privacy terms apply to that video.
Third parties
Vercel hosts the site and provides analytics. Neon hosts our database in the United States. Our email provider sends confirmation emails and the newsletter, and passes field reports to our inbox. Each processes data on our behalf under its own privacy terms. We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers. Outbound links lead to sites with their own policies, which we don't control.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete any personal data we hold about you. Email hello@gfs.ai and we'll handle it promptly.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
