Agility Unveils Digit 5, Built to Work Closer to People

Digit 5 lifts 50 lb, reaches 7.2 ft and charges in 9 minutes for a 10:1 run-to-charge ratio, with person detection that can make it stop, steer around someone or sit down. Early access is planned for the first half of 2027 and general availability by the end of 2027.

The headline change is where Digit can work. Digit 5 detects people with several sensor types, signals its intended motion with visual and audible cues, and has an independent safety controller that supervises its response when someone gets too close. Agility's specs are preliminary company estimates, some safety features are still in development, and the planned CE and other regulatory marks haven't been obtained yet. A warehouse humanoid that can share an aisle with people is a step toward one that shares a home, but this one is still an industrial machine.

The release timing has moved. Agility's SEC registration statement had expected an initial Digit v5 release in late 2026; early access now comes in the first half of 2027. The same filing describes a $300 million commitment for 1,000 Digit v5 robots under a three-year robots-as-a-service contract with a related-party customer, which is not earned revenue. The SPAC that would take Agility public, announced in June, has cleared a step: the SEC declared the S-4 effective on October 13, and Churchill Capital Corp XI's shareholders vote on November 2, 2026. The deal is expected to close in November but hasn't closed yet.
